October 2024

The Cellar Shot

  • Domaine du Collier Saumur Blanc 2020, Loire, France - Rich and well-balanced, loaded with flavors of baked apples, citrus zest, and crushed rocks. Farmed organically and biodynamically, and produced with a minimalist mentality in the cellar.
  • Ghemme “Chioso dei Pomi" Rovellotti Nebbiolo 2017, Piedmont, Italy - From the Alto Piemonte, this is a woodsy, berry compote-scented wonder that would make an outstanding match with a classic porcini risotto. Modern balance and with a lift compliments of the 15% Vespolina which makes its way into the blend.

The Californian

  • Terre Rouge Tête-à-Tête Rhone Blend 2016, Sierra Foothills - This meaty, savory wine made from Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache puts earth, mineral and wild berry flavors in the forefront, backing them with good acidity and moderate tannins for a snappy, mouth cleansing texture.
  • windchaser Chardonnay 2022, Anderson Valley - Winemaker’s favorite Chardonnay to date from the Day Ranch vineyard. Rich fig and earth aromas lead to ripe peach and pear flavors in this full-bodied, creamy-textured wine that was barrel fermented with native yeast. It has a luxurious mouthfeel and lingering finish that make it memorable.
  • windchaser Pinot Noir 2021, Anderson Valley - Newly minted 91pts from Wine Enthusiast! This wine is fresh, bright with aromas of youthful raspberry, white strawberry, cranberry and dried herbs on the nose. The flavors on the palate are cranberry-pomegranate and orange zest interwoven with spice, mineral and dried coriander, with a dry finish.

The Trust Fall

  • Trediberri Langhe Nebbiolo 2023, Piedmont, Italy - The wine is red-fruited and crisp, with firm but fine tannins, plenty of grip and high acidity. Flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, rosehip, pepper, and violets permeate the palate.
  • Bodegas Mustiguillo Bobal Finca Terrerazo 2019, Valencia, Spain - Deep, dark red with scarlet flashes. The nose shows crushed red fruits, scents of wild strawberry and pomegranate. The palate is grapey and intense, with flavors of ripe, black cherry, black plum and blueberry fruit, laced with notes of tobacco and cedar, with chewy, firm tannins. Bold but with superb balance, and a long, fruited finish.
  • Broc Cellars ‘Got Grapes’ Orange Muscat 2023, Lodi - Organically grown from the Hartwick vineyard. This is a dry, low-alcohol take on this variety. Fresh pear, lychee, and melon. Great end of summer quaffer!

The Pop & Pour

  • Colpaola Verdicchio di Matelica 2022, Marche, Italy - Fresh fruit flavors mingle with subtle floral tones, an uplifting minerality, and a purity born of organic grapes that leaves the palate fresh and energized.
  • Antica Tindari ‘Don Giovanni’ Nocera 2016, Sicily, Italy - A blend with Nerello Mascalese. Aromas of porcini mushrooms, cooked cherries, blackberries, dried herbs, balsamic and licorice. Medium-bodied with crunchy acidity and firm, integrated tannins. Flavorful.
  • Domaine La Manarine Côtes du Rhône Rosé 2023, Rhone, France - A Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah blend which offers bright, friendly strawberry fruit, gentle but well-measured acidity.
